Is HCG safe?
YES! HCG has been used with this diet protocol for over 60 years with no history of serious adverse side affects. HCG is a proven safe and effective medication that should only be prescribed and used under the supervision of a licensed physician. HCG should not be confused with HGH (Human Growth Hormone) which is not safe.
Why shouldn’t I buy HCG off the internet?
HCG is a prescription medication and without a valid prescription cannot be bought off the internet. Many of the so-called HCG medications sold on the internet are herbal or homeopathic preparations that have no demonstrated effectiveness and are not equivalent to the real HCG.
Why can't I just follow the very low calorie diet without taking HCG?
If you go on a 500 calorie per day diet you will lose weight but at the expense of structural (necessary) fat, muscle and bone. Your metabolism will slow down as your body begins to hold onto stored fat as if in starvation. This makes gaining weight easier after returning to a normal calorie intake. You will most likely also experience hunger, irritability, fatigue and headaches.How did the HCG Diet originate?
Over 60 years ago, Dr. A T W Simeon was studying the effects of starvation on pregnant women in India, when he discovered that it was HCG that mobilized stored fat that was used as nutrition for the fetuses. It was from this discovery that he determined that very low doses of HCG along with his very low calorie diet would enhance weight loss in overweight patients. Dr. Simeon also determined that HCG acted in the brain to suppress appetite and increase a feeling of well being. He also found patients would lose the abnormal, unwanted, unhealthy fat reserves without altering their healthy structural fat.
Will HCG affect any other medications I am currently taking?
No - HCG does not interact with ANY other medications.
What do I do if I stop losing weight while on the diet? (plateau)
It’s possible that during the course of the HCG diet, that your weight will not drop although you have strictly followed all instructions. This may be due to a menstrual cycle, water retention from physical activity, or your body is just reshaping. Although you are not losing weight you are still burning stored fat and are losing inches. This tends to happen near the end of a course of treatment. Continue on the diet and you will shortly see a loss of weight again.
May I substitute foods on this diet with other low calorie foods?
NO - Other foods may even have a lower caloric value than those recommended on the diet, but they interfere with the regular loss of weight under HCG due to the nature of their composition. The foods used in conjunction with the HCG diet (which make up the 500 calories) must be strictly followed.
Are sleep and exercise important?
It is always beneficial to get 7-8 hours of sleep each night when attempting to lose weight. Clinical studies show that if you do not get enough sleep per night, you will have difficulty losing weight and your hunger is typically greater. Although it isn't necessary to exercise in order to lose weight while on the HCG diet, it is ok to continue light exercise like walking and yoga. Strenuous exercise may cause some water retention at times and possibly more hunger.
What if I "cheat" while on the diet?
Your weight loss may stop and potentially take several days to begin again. The extra calories and or food substitutions will keep you from burning the stored fat mobilized by HCG and you will have less than optimal results. You are only cheating yourself when you don’t follow the diet strictly!
Will I regain weight after finishing the HCG Program?
The HCG diet will help you maintain your weight because by losing fat and maintaining muscle, your body will naturally burn more calories. This change in body fat to muscle proportion will help keep you from rebounding back to your original weight. However, you cannot return to eating unhealthy foods or your metabolism might slow down and you will regain weight.
